GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH
BOARD MINUTES
January 24, 2024
Board members present were Vicar Gary Grindvalds, Miranda Kliment, Arnold
Heyen, and Esther Jonas.
Organ update:
All bills have been paid! The total was $43,251.00. Insurance: $13,905.42.
Donations: $18,600.00. Luther League: $3,300.00. The remaining was from
Memorial Fund: $7,445.58
Bylaws:
No meeting has been made yet, need to talk to local churches to get theirs.
Confirmation:
They will be able to do one of two things: advent at Grace, Lenten bible study or
go to Zion to watch “The Chosen”.
In the spring go out to eat at a place where they may never really go to such as
an Ethiopian restaurant. The church will pay for the students and parents will
pay for themselves. This will happen in April after Easter.
The confirmands will be collecting donations for Clinic with a Heart. It is a free
clinic in Lincoln. They will be asking the churches to help with some of the items.

Internet update:
It is still in the works.
Internship Committee:
No meeting has been held but one needs to be had. Perhaps Feb 7 at 5:30p.m.
A meeting needs to be held with Grace and Czech Pres to start thinking about
Pastoral Planning for after Gary Graduates. We need to talk with someone from
the Synod to discuss what our options may be.
Have a sign up sheet for Vicar Gary. He can go around to the congregants and
say good-bye.
Epiphany Service Reflection:
It went well. We have the room to host all. Plenty of food.
We need to undecorate the church.
We will ask Rhonda to put in the bulletin to ask for the financial books so the
auditing committee can go over them.
Set a date for the annual meeting, maybe February 11 or 18. We will talk to
Czech pres to find out if they have service either day so we can have our
meeting.
Annual meeting:
Miranda Kliment and Arnold Heyen are up this year
Need delegates for Synod and alternates
Should we keep the Luther League and the WELCA boards? Should we just
dissolve them into the general fund.?
Rhonda Obert has been our organist for 23 years and secretary since 2005. She
has requested a pay increase. After a discussion the board decided to give her a
25% increase in pay.
Lent begins on February 14, 2024. There will be a service at 6:00pm with a meal
first. Lenten bible services will be on Wednesdays at 6:30 food then bible study.
New Business:
Talk with Jacque about moving. Have Allan & Judy Pearson talk with her. Not
sure what to do with the house after that.
We need to fix the basement floors. Take the carpet out, fix it with cement then
put carpet back?
