Board Minutes
April 28, 2024
Board members present were Vicar Gary Grindvalds, Miranda Kliment, Arnold Heyen, Pat Heyen, Leah Whitcomb, Shannon Williams and Esther Jonas.
The minutes of the last meeting were read over and Arnold made motion and Shannon seconded. Passed.
Treasurer's report: We do not have the safety deposit box key. We will have the bank have a locksmith come and open it when there are 2-3 more so it lowers the cost of opening it.
A stole has been ordered for Gary and we will ask Czech Prez if we will get together to give it to him.
On May 1, 2:00 pm. Miranda will meet with the intern committee. The final evaluation is now completed.
We are looking into internet for the church. Now we will look into Starlink.
The carpet is now completed in the basement. The cemetery board paid for the concrete and the church paid for the carpet. It looks good.
We are looking into copyright information. We have a facebook page and a website. We will check with Zion to find out what they do.
Miranda will talk with Rhonda about giving the templates of our bulletins to Bethlehem so they will be able to do them for us.
Miranda will fill out the application form for the CL program (collaborative learning program). We will also try the normal call process. There are no students at this time that the Synod knows of that will be looking for a call like ours.
Jackie and the parsonage: June 1 is when she is planning to move into the house in Ceresco. We will try to make her transition as easy as possible.
The 155 year celebration: we will wait for a celebration on year 160. We will inform people who will come to our ice cream social so they are informed. We will put this information on our advertising for the ice cream social about the celebration.
We will discontinue at this time the Sunday Coffees.
Esther was approached by a member about maybe redoing the kitchen. At this time it is not a good idea as we just spent a lot of money on several things for the church. The last big thing was the organ. We do not use it as often as we once did so is it really worth it at this time. Also we do not have the money in the regular church fund to have it done.
For our Memorial Day picnic, which is May 26, we will ask Czech prez to see if they would be willing to come here for service and the picnic.
We will have 2 weddings in July.
Gary’s graduation will be May 12. Also Ben Kliment will be graduating high school and there will be a party on May 11 at Starlite at 2:00pm.
May 15 is the last day of confirmation class.
Larry & Pat will go to the Synod Assembly Conference which is May 31- June 2.
